Cassandra + Trevin’s Fall-Themed Westward Ho Campground Wedding in Sundre, Alberta

It’s been over a year since these two were married, and their intimate wedding deserves a lot of love!!

From their Dungeons & Dragons touches to their location choice of the Westward Ho campground, Cassandra + Trevin’s fall-themed wedding in Sundre, AB was nothing short of enchanting.

I drove from Brooks to Sundre that morning, pleased to see that we were going to have beautiful weather. I had never been in that direction before and instantly fell in love with the landscape between Olds and Sundre.

My first stop was the hotel where Cassandra was getting ready with her bridesmaids. I arrived early and originally planned to hang out in my car. But then my friend Christa’s husband, Colin, arrived and was heading upstairs already. So, I tagged along with him.

Being quite a bit early, I had the chance to sit and hang out with the bride’s crew for a little while. Most of her bridesmaids I already knew; Christa, one of my dear friends, and who I met Cassandra through, Emalea, and Skye. It’s always a blast hanging out with them. And before long, it was time to get to work. The natural light through the window gave the perfect warmth as Cassandra finished her makeup, and her hair began to be styled. J’hannah, the groom’s sister, is a hairstylist and created the most whimsical half-updo I’ve seen.

The fall colours were super vibrant as we left the hotel and headed for the campground. Being right on the lesser Red Deer River (I believe it was called), the atmosphere held such a fantasy-setting. It felt like it was straight out of a novel.

Before long, it was time for the ceremony. Cassandra and her lovelies walked down an aisle decorated with pumpkins, and Cass + Trevin came together in front of the river. Their officiant, Helen Morgan, was such a wonderful person, and she preformed the ceremony beautifully.

Family photos followed the recessional, and thereafter the wedding party and I walked across a dirt road to a small sliver of trees for portraits.

The sun was in the PERFECT position to touch the surrounding trees with golden hues, and the vibe instantly turned from campground basic to enchanted forest. Cassandra looked like an elven princess – without pointed ears – in this environment, so it was no doubt the perfect place!!

We made magic there, and not long after, it was time to return to the little hall for their outdoor reception.

The dinner was catered by friends and family, and the cake was baked by the bride herself. Not only that, but the cake toppers were dragons, replicating their characters from D&D.

I left shortly before dinner began, given a couple of DELICIOUS buns for my way back to Calgary, where I was staying for the night.

Cassandra + Trevin’s enchanting fall-themed wedding was the most amazing event I have ever seen. I loved witnessing all the tidbits of their personality sprinkled throughout their décor.

It was such a blast, and definitely an intimate wedding to remember!! Thank you again, Cassandra + Trevin, for allowing me to be your wedding photographer. 🤗
